Worry

Worry

We can all relate to a feeling of worry. So what is worry?

The dictionary defines worry as a state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems and to give way to anxiety or unease and allow one's mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles.

It's fair to say we have all experienced times of uncertainty difficulties and trouble in our life. It's also fair to say life is not possible without difficulty and uncertainty.

A good example are the times we are facing today with Covid-19. This virus has done nothing short of plunge many people into places of uncertainly, difficulty and trouble.

So how do we work through worry. Here are some steps you can use

1. Acknowledge your feeling of worry. As I have said before a feeling will not pass until it is acknowledged.

2. Ask yourself what is my specific worry? It can be helpful to write this down and or journal it also.

2. Ask yourself, how likely is it that what I'am worried about will happen?

3. Ask yourself, if my worry does happen what is the "worst" that will happen?

4. Ask yourself If my worry does happen what will "most likely happen?"

5. Ask yourself if my worry does happen, what are the chances I will be ok?

When we choose to acknowledge our worry and the fears associated with it, we can experience our worry from a logical place verses and emotional place. When we experience it from a logical place we can work toward releasing it and moving into a place of trust and peace instead of fear and anxiety.
